Top 9 Advances in Cancer Research
The American Institute for Cancer Research provides funding for research at leading universities, hospitals and research centers through the United States and abroad. Its mission is to interpret the science and educate consumers about cancer prevention. The institute recently published the 100th issue of its e-newsletter, Cancer Research Update. Wellness Times interviewed the institute's spokesperson, Alice Bender, RD, about the most exciting cancer prevention research findings of the last year.

Alice Bender, RD, is the Nutrition Communications Manager for the American Institute for Cancer Research (AICR). One of her key roles is to translate nutrition science into practical advice for consumers and health professionals. She helps healthcare providers in cancer centers and other healthcare settings learn about and stay up to date on diet, weight and physical activity and cancer prevention and survivorship through AICR’s Health Professionals and Educators program. She also produces and reviews nutrition information for AICR’s patient educational materials, website and other publications. She is a spokesperson for AICR and is often interviewed by members of the media.
